Student workshop in Munich

July 1, 2024

Martin Schepelmann, the coordinator of eRaDicate held a two-day seminar for the fellows of the German student scholarship (Deutsches Schülerstipendium) at the Roland Berger Foundation in Munich, Germany on June 28th and 29th. The scholarship is an amazing program that empowers motivated children and adolescents with difficult starting chances to participate in workshops and academies, receive extra training, take up internships and much more.

The seminar, entitled “Medikamente – Pharmaforschung – Arzneimittel”, was all about drug discovery and pharmacy. Following a tour of Roche in Penzberg, Martin discussed with the fellows the intricacies of academic research, the drug discovery process, and modern PhD education in our eRaDicate project. The next day was dedicated both to more theoretical subjects, such as medical plants and phytotherapy and to practical work. In a hands-on workshop on plant anatomy and microscopy, the fellows learned how to prepare plant specimens and interpret plant-anatomical features.

The days in Munich were great fun! A great thank you to the fellows for their active interest and participation in all the activities – you were fantastic! Martin already had the honor of having held multiple webinars for the Roland Berger Foundation before, but it was even more engaging in person.
