We were very honored to host a hybrid seminar entitled “The Genetic Complexity of Prostate Cancer” held by one of the members of the eRaDicate advisory board, Prof. Jyotsna Batra, from the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia at the Institute for Pathophysiology and Allergy Research of the Medical University of Vienna on July 17th.
Prof. Jyotsna Batra has extensive experience in analyzing genetic variations associated with complex human health disorders and their applicability in diagnosis or therapy. She works on associations between genetic variations and complex disorders like prostate cancer, and contributed to large-scale studies like the Indian Genome Variation Consortium. Her talk focused on her current work on understanding the genetic complexity of prostate cancer, including genome-wide association studies and bioinformatics analysis to identify risk genes.
The seminar was very well attended, both in person and online. It was especially nice to see quite a number of our prospective eRaDicate Doctoral Candidates among the attendees! A special in-person guest was Dr. Rupert Ecker, the CEO of Tissue Gnostics GmbH, with many of the eRaDicate PIs and members of our institute participating virtually or on-site. This seminar was the first of an exciting chain of training and educational eRaDicate events once all students will have started with their projects in the fall.
