Secondment Sucess: Giorgia Risso in Birmingham

September 6, 2026

Another eRaDicate secondment has been successfully completed. Our Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Researcher Giorgia Risso recently spent several weeks at the University of Birmingham, where she worked closely with fellow eRaDicate researcher Linn Dennison.

During her stay, Giorgia developed her skills in ChIP-seq and data analysis. She also had the chance to exchange ideas, discuss each other’s projects, and experience first-hand how collaboration across institutions can strengthen research. She will bring these new skills back to her research lab in Vienna.

“I’m very grateful to the University of Birmingham, Maarten, Vesna, Geoffrey, and Linn, who welcomed me and supported me during this time,” said Giorgia.

Secondments are an important part of the eRaDicate Doctoral Network. They give our fellows the opportunity to learn new techniques, share knowledge, and establish collaborations across institutions and countries. Beyond the scientific training, they are also about building connections within the network and sharing the different perspectives that come with being an early-career researcher in an international environment.

We are proud to see our fellows making the most of these opportunities and continuing to grow, both scientifically and personally, throughout their PhD journeys.
