Mayur Kadam’s secondment to the University of Santiago de Compostela

November 28, 2025

I’m happy to share that I recently completed a research secondment at the Organic Chemistry Department of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in Spain. From September 1st to November 14th, 2025, I had the opportunity to work under Professor Antonio Mourino, a consultant for the eRaDicate project, in one of Spain’s top labs for synthesizing Vitamin D analogues.

During my stay, I focused on designing new strategies for the complex synthesis of a novel Vitamin D analogue. Tackling challenging reactions, optimizing processes, and creating innovative molecules was both exciting and rewarding. Beyond the lab, I enjoyed scientific discussions, presentations, and collaborative moments with colleagues that enriched the experience even further.

Life outside the lab was equally inspiring. I explored Santiago de Compostela’s historic old town, wandered through lively streets, and savored the region’s fantastic cuisine. Combining meaningful research with immersion in the local culture made my time in Galicia truly unforgettable.

This secondment was a professionally enriching and personally memorable journey. It broadened my skills, gave me fresh perspectives on the eRaDicate project, and left me motivated to return to Warsaw and continue advancing my work.
