In the days from July 7th to July 11th, we, Magda Góis and Dominika Mangabat, took part in a shared one-week secondment at the Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine site in Ringaskiddy, Ireland, organized by Dr. Aoife Corcoran.
We explored the full scope of the site’s operations—from research and development through to large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing. The program included sessions on upstream and downstream processing, discussions on translating academic research into industry applications, and the opportunity to present our projects to the R&D team.
This secondment provided a valuable perspective on the broader trajectory of drug development, illustrating how fundamental scientific discoveries are refined into therapies that ultimately benefit patients.
