Prof. Román Pérez-Fernández, MD, PhD

The University of Santiago de Compostela founded in 1495, has the infrastructure facilities, and human resources needed for the training of young researchers. USC’s commitment to continuously improve our human resources strategy in line with the European Charter and Code was acknowledged in February 2017 with the distinction “HR Excellence in Research”. The DC will be a member of the Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CIMUS) at USC. The Endocrine Oncology lab at the CIMUS has all facilities for in vitro and in vivo biological evaluation of the compounds, including cell culture, FACS sorters, confocal microscopy, histology facilities, animal facilities including SPF conditions, PET/CT, etc.

Román Pérez-Fernández has worked for the last 20 years on the relationships between 1,25 vitamin D and transcription factors with breast cancer, and hosted seconded ESRs of the FP7-PEOPLE-2012-ITN DECIDE program. He is the coordinator of the Doctoral Program “Endocrinology” at USC.
